Chelsea are set to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final later this month.

Thiago Silva is battling to recover in time for Chelsea’s upcoming games, after recently picking up an injury.

The defender was involved in Chelsea’s last Premier League outing, which ended in a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace, but he couldn’t finish the match, after limping off the pitch in the second half.

Mauricio Pochettino later said in a post-match interview that the 39-year-old had suffered a groin injury, and had to be assessed to ascertain the amount of damage he’d taken.

Reports now say that Thiago is a huge doubt for this weekend’s league visit to the Etihad to face Manchester City, and the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool next weekend.

Even if the Brazilian were to make one of those games, it is unlikely he’ll be available for Saturday’s clash with Pep Guardiola’s men.
