Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed suggestions that Conor Gallagher is anywhere near as good as Frank Lampard was for Chelsea.

Gallagher was ‘Man of the Match’, as Chelsea snatched a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

The midfielder scored two brilliant goals after finding his way into the hosts’ penalty area, to lift Chelsea into 10th on the Premier League table.

After the game, a reporter drew a comparison between Gallagher and Chelsea great, Lampard, which led to Pochettino making it clear that the 23-year-old still has plenty to learn, even as good as he is.

The Chelsea boss said: “I think Frank Lampard is a legend and one of the greatest midfielders in the history of football.”

Pochettino also said: “Conor is still young and still has time to achieve this level but he is doing a fantastic job for us.

“We are so happy with him.”

Gallagher has now scored three goals for Chelsea this season, and it does look like there’s more where those came from.
