Enzo Fernandez had a brilliant outing for Chelsea, as the Blues secured a place in the FA Cup fifth round, with an emphatic 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in midweek.

The 23-year-old was deservedly named ‘Man of the Match’ for the game after bossing proceedings from midfield, alongside his partner and friend, Moises Caicedo.

Enzo capped off the memorable display with a goal from an unstoppable free-kick just 10 minutes into the restart, and followed it up with a celebration that many believe he used to send a message to his critics.

Since joining Chelsea last January, Enzo has endured criticism from both pundits and football fans, especially due to his £107m transfer fee, but ESPN pundit, Steve Nicol believes that his performance on Wednesday can be the trigger he needs to reach his full potential.

“He did all the things we thought he was going to do when he put a Chelsea jersey on…” Nicol said.

“Maybe that free-kick, sensational free-kick, top corner, picture perfect, maybe that’s the thing in this game that kicks him into gear.

“If you’ve got one of your main players at top form, then it spreads to everybody else.”
