Cole Palmer has been named the Carabao Cup ‘Player of the Round’ for the semi-final stage of the competition.

Palmer’s magnificent contribution helped Chelsea progress to the final of the League Cup two weeks ago.

The Blues beat Middlesbrough 6-1 at Stamford Bridge in the return leg to earn a 6-2 aggregate win against the Championship club after going down 1-0 in the reverse fixture.

Palmer scored twice to add to strikes from Axel Disasi, Enzo Fernandez and Noni Madueke, as well as an early own goal from Jonny Howson to set up a final showdown with familiar foes, Liverpool at Wembley later this month.
