Enzo Fernandez’s agent, Uriel Perez, has firmly dismissed claims that the Argentine midfielder regrets his lengthy contract with Chelsea, emphasizing his strong commitment to the club.

Following Chelsea’s recent struggles in the Premier League, which included substantial losses to Liverpool and Wolves which has left the Blues in 11th place — 15 points away from a Champions League spot — rumors surfaced that some recent signings were reconsidering their decisions to join the club, especially those tied down by extensive contracts.

Fernandez, who moved to Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for a fee of £107 million, was given a contract until 2031. This extended term allows Chelsea to spread the cost of his transfer over many years, aiding in compliance with financial fair play regulations.

Despite speculation about his future due to the team’s performance, Perez has made it clear that Fernandez is focused on his career at Chelsea and has no plans to depart.

“The player has no intention of leaving,” Perez told Spanish newspaper AS.

“The Chelsea hierarchy were very clear with this project. It’s a plan that was always going to be difficult at the beginning because new and young players were going to arrive.

“But when the pieces of the team all fit together, Chelsea are going to move forward.

“Enzo’s desire is to be on the team and win trophies. We have not met with any clubs or even tried to talk to any clubs, that’s not true.

“We know what the player’s desire is. Obviously he would like Chelsea to be in a better position [in the league] but that will be achieved with hard work.”
