The triumph eased the tension surrounding a Chelsea team whose traveling supporters initially voiced support for Roman Abramovich but concluded the game in jubilation with the beleaguered players and coach.

Chelsea is set to host Championship side Leeds at Stamford Bridge in the round of 16.
