‘What does he do?’: Liverpool legend questions footballing ability of Chelsea star

Steve Nicol has torn into Mykhailo Mudryk, and accused the winger of lacking a ‘football brain’, following his performance for Chelsea in the 4-2 defeat to Wolves on Sunday.

Despite only coming off the bench for Raheem Sterling in the Stamford Bridge defeat, Mudryk was still poor in his ball distribution, and gave the ball away on multiple occasions.

The 23-year-old later picked up an assist as Chelsea scored a second goal through Thiago Silva very late in the game, but that wasn’t enough to impress former Premier League man, Nicol.

“Some players don’t have great football brains, like Mykhailo Mudryk for example,” the pundit said on ESPN FC.

“In an open game with plenty of space, with the pace he has, he will probably look good. But in terms of football brain? Does he really have one? It doesn’t seem like it.

“Can somebody please tell me what Mykhailo Mudryk does? Other than being an Olympic sprinter, in football terms, what is he good at? He doesn’t score goals, what assists has he got? Does he dribble well? No. Does he link up? No. What does he do?”
