Mauricio Pochettino may have to make the difficult decision of dropping two of his senior players after their disappointing performances for Chelsea lately.
Chelsea picked up a 4-2 loss against Wolves in the Premier League, just days after suffering a 4-1 away loss to Liverpool.
The club is now in 11th place on the league table, down two places after those games.
According to TEAMtalk, Pochettino may be at risk of losing his job as Chelsea manager after failing to steady the ship since his appointment seven months ago, but football pundit, Robbie Earle has now urged the Argentine to save himself the embarrassment, by making the tough decision of dropping Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi, who according him, have been underwhelming for Chelsea lately.
Earle told NBC Sports: “The patient Pochettino might have to change. He might have to start to get a bit ruthless and start making some big decisions about some of these players.
“I’m not just talking about the young players, people like Chilwell and Disasi are nowhere near the level they should be at.”
On his day, Chilwell is arguably Chelsea’s best left-back, but since the defender returned from injury, he hasn’t looked the same, and needs to work harder to improve on what he has produced these past few games.
As for Disasi, there certainly have been good signs from the Frenchman in his debut season in the Premier League, but that is never enough when you’re playing for serial winners like Chelsea, and he too must now improve himself to retain his spot in the team.
