Pochettino explains why Chelsea didn’t make any signing in January

Mauricio Pochettino has explained the reason Chelsea did not try to make any signings during the January transfer window.

The Blues saw a number of their players depart Stamford Bridge for other clubs, including the likes of Armando Broja, Andrey Santos, and David Datro Fofana, who all left on loan.

Chelsea were also rumoured to be looking for a new striker to ease the pressure on Nicolas Jackson, but ultimately, they ended up not signing anyone.

Pochettino was asked the reason for this during his press conference on Friday, and the Argentine stated that there wasn’t really a need for a new forward since he still has the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, and Deivid Washington to call upon.

He told reporters: “I think the options we have upfront is enough.I think it is important to recover Nkunku, Jackson arrived today and we have Deivid Washington with us.

“It is very good for him (Broja) to play more. It is a good move for him and I hope he can take the opportunity to play more.”
