Chelsea veteran defender Thiago Silva, has been told to call time on his career at Chelsea.

From Frank Lampard, to Thomas Tuchel, to Graham Potter and now Mauricio Pochettino, Silva has seen different eras at Chelsea, and has been a success in all.

However, former Chelsea defender William Gallas, believes the veteran is past his best.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 4-1 loss to Liverpool, Gallas revealed his admiration for Silva’s qualities, but doesn’t believe he can play for Chelsea until 40.

Speaking with Genting Casino, Gallas said: “I absolutely love Thiago Silva. I have huge respect for everything that he has achieved in his career. I also have huge respect for what he has shown at Chelsea this season.

“Once again, he has been Chelsea’s best player, which is remarkable when you consider he is thirty-nine years old. If he wasn’t performing at the highest level, then I would say, but I can’t criticize Thiago.

“I don’t think he has one more season in the Premier League left in him. I don’t know if he can give another year, but let me reiterate, Thiago Silva has been absolutely magnificent for Chelsea. I’m sure he will be thinking about his future.”
