Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea may yet sign a new player before the end of the January transfer window.
The Blues have been uncharacteristically quiet in the winter transfer window, despite being linked with an interest in many players.
A good example of those names is Jhon Duran of Aston Villa, who journalist, David Ornstein recently revealed Chelsea were still monitoring despite the striker recently picking up an injury.
Many fans were hoping that by now, one forward player would have been signed for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, but with the transfer window set to slam shut on Thursday, February 1, those hopes are starting to fade away.
However, Romano has now stated that something could still happen in the coming hours.
He told Give Me Sport: “Chelsea are always a club to look out for in general for the final days.
“It was a quiet window for them, not just in the final days of the market. But I still believe that Chelsea are closely monitoring some opportunities.
“But they could stay with the same squad if they believe he is not the right player. For example, Duran at Aston Villa was a player Chelsea considered internally, but they never made a bid.”
