Moises Caicedo might have headed to Spain to play for Barcelona, if things played out differently last summer.

According to the 22-year-old’s agent Manuel Sierra, the La Liga side reached out to them to enquire about Moises Caicedo before he eventually signed for Chelsea.

Liverpool also made an attempt for Caicedo, who has been a regular for the Blues since the start of the season.

Sierra said in an interview with Spanish publication, AS: “Yes, Barça asked. Barça asked, but it was an inaccessible subject for them.

“It was clear. In the end, with the Fair Play issue and so on, it was a complicated issue. But yes, they did ask us and well, that’s where it stayed.

“There was no official offer; there were only soundings. The normal thing in the markets.”

Chelsea pulled off the deal to sign Caicedo from Brighton after agreeing to pay more than the £105m that Liverpool offered them for the Ecuador international.
