Nicolas Jackson is set to be absent from Chelsea’s Premier League meeting with Liverpool on Wednesday night after failing to return to England on time.

The 22-year-old forward was part of the Senegal squad that took part in the AFCON before their elimination at the hands of Ivory Coast in the round of 16.

Jackson was expected back in London earlier today ahead of the game with Liverpool, but according to journalist, Rahman Osaman, the striker was still in Senegal as at 11AM GMT.

The reason for this is reportedly because Senegal coach, Aliou Cisse had requested that all of his players travelled back to the West African country with the team before returning to their respective football clubs.

Jackson is still due to return to London on Wednesday, but he won’t be able to take part in the 8:15 GMT game between Chelsea and Liverpool at Anfield. And in his absence, Mauricio Pochettino will now have to either play Armando Broja or any of Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling  up front.
