Chelsea legend, Joe Cole has reacted to news that Chelsea might actually sell Conor Gallagher to Tottenham this month.
The January transfer window is barely three days from closing, but the rumours of Gallagher potentially leaving Stamford Bridge have refused to go away.
The 23-year-old has played with great commitment and hunger this season, even captaining the Blues on multiple occasions, but there are reports that the owners of the club don’t mind offloading him if it means raising some funds for future transfers.
Tottenham Hotspur are the most interested in sealing a deal for the Chelsea midfielder, per many reports, but former England star, Cole has revealed he’s disappointed the idea would even be harboured in the first place.
He told Football.london: “Conor Gallagher is a massive part of the club at the moment and that is something that should be valued and nurtured, not thrown out the door just to get a few quid in. I don’t agree with that.
“Decisions like the Conor Gallagher one, I’m sure the people in charge have really, really considered it but you need to have someone in there that can say, ‘no, no, you can’t let him go. You particularly can’t let him go to Tottenham.’”
