Chelsea forward Noni Madueke has hailed Chelsea teammate, Ben Chilwell, as a player that is loved by many at Stamford Bridge.
Chilwell was involved, as Chelsea cruised to the Carabao Cup final with an emphatic 6-1 win against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.
It was his first start for Chelsea in four months, having also appeared as a substitute in the Premier League meeting with Fulham two weeks ago after a long battle with a hamstring injury.
Chilwell showed during Tuesday’s game at Stamford Bridge, that he was a very important member of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, captaining the team, and creating a few wonderful opportunities in the 65 minutes he played.
Madueke came off the bench to find the back of the net against Michael Carrick’s side earlier in the week, and the 21-year-old couldn’t hide his true feelings for Chilwell in an interview after the game.
He said, as quoted by the Evening Standard: “Chilly was outstanding today. He is one of the captains, an experienced head; all the boys love him.”
At 27, Chilwell is one of the most-experienced players at Chelsea right now, and fans will be happy that he is finally back to the team after his lengthy injury layoff. He is however likely to come from the bench in Friday’s FA Cup fourth-round meeting with Aston Villa, as Pochettino himself stated during a pre-match press conference on Thursday.
