Chelsea have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Aston Villa forward, Jhon Duran.
The 20-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who are eager to add a new striker to their squad this month.
However, if Unai Emery’s comments on Duran are to be taken seriously, any hopes of the former Chicago Fire man signing with the West Londoners may have been killed off.
During his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Emery stated that Duran had picked up an injury that will now keep him on the sidelines for the next few weeks.
The Villa boss said, as quoted by Matt Law: “The last action against Everton he (Duran) was injured. For the next weeks he is not going to be available.”
Duran has made 14 appearances for Villa this season, albeit from the bench, scoring just two goals. This also means, Duran won’t be playing against Chelsea in tonight’s FA Cup clash.
