Cole Palmer was deservedly named ‘Man of the Match’ as Chelsea outclassed Middlesbrough 6-1 at Stamford Bridge to book a place in the Carabao Cup final on Tuesday night.
The 21-year-old scored twice for Chelsea, with the two goals coming on either side of the break.
Both strikes were Palmer’s 10th and 11th goals of the season, which puts him ahead as Chelsea’s most prolific player in the ongoing 2023-24 campaign.
It also means that the England International has now surpassed the number of goals that the Blues managed during their abysmal outing last season.
Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz were Chelsea’s top goalscorers last term— they both netted nine times, as the club finishes the season in 12th place in the league.
We should also add that Palmer has managed his goal tally in just 22 matches, which means he could score more with many more matches to go this season.
