Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was full of praise for Cole Palmer after Chelsea’s 6-1 win over Middlesbrough.
Palmer was toothless in the reverse fixture as Chelsea lost 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium.
Palmer’s performance was criticised by pundits, but the 21-year-old has redeemed himself with a man of the match performance against Boro.
Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Axel Disasi, and Noni Madueke all got on the scoresheet while Jonny Howson scored an own goal.
Palmer redeemed himself by scoring a brace, and he got his plaudits from Hasselbaink.
“As a footballer, you’re going to go through those moments. You’re going to miss easy chances,” Hasselbaink said, referring to Palmer’s multiple missed chances in the first leg.
“It’s about what the next step is, how you react in the next match. He showed his quality today with two good goals.
“Two weeks ago they had three good chances with Palmer and they didn’t take it. Today they punished Middlesbrough when they made a mistake. They were clinical.”
