Mauricio Pochettino during his press conference on Monday, broke the hearts of Chelsea fans when he revealed Christopher Nkunku wouldn’t be taking part in the game against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
This is mostly due to the fact that the game is actually a very important one, and the Blues have to win it convincingly if they’re to progress to the final of the Carabao Cup.
Nkunku has made just one appearance in the competition throughout the season, having had to battle injuries for the most part of the campaign, but if all goes well, the Frenchman might actually be available for the final in a few weeks.
While Pochettino did say that the 26-year-old wouldn’t be playing the second leg of the semi-final against Boro, the Chelsea boss didn’t add that Nkunku was already back in training, and is now in the final stages of his rehabilitation.
Chelsea shared photos from the first team’s training session on Tuesday, and in some of them, the former RB Leipzig man was spotted alongside some of his teammates.
The Blues will play Aston Villa in the FA Cup this Friday after their game with Boro, and fans can hope that Nkunku is fit to enough to make at least, make the bench for that game.
