Ian Maatsen has sent a message to the Chelsea management regarding his future at Stamford Bridge.
The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund until the end of the season.
Maatsen is therefore expected to return to West London in less than six months, after signing a contract extension before the loan was completed, but it appears the left-back is already enjoying life in Germany, and no longer wants to play for the Blues.
The Dutchman who can play as a left-back and left winger, has played two games for Dortmund since his move, picking up an incredible assist last weekend.
In a post-match interview after Dortmund’s 4-0 win against Koln on Saturday, Maatsen was asked about the possibility of making his loan transfer a permanent one, to which he replied, as quoted by Patricia Berger pf Sky Deutschland: “I would like to come back in the summer. Why not? But we’ll see what the future brings.”
Maatsen’s new Chelsea contract has a £35m release clause, which means he could easily leave if he desires that.
