Chelsea last week recalled Cesare Casadei from his loan spell with Leicester City.
The 21-year-old joined the Championship leaders last summer, and was expected to spend the entirety of the season with them, before the Blues made the decision to terminate his contract after six months.
Casadei is the third Chelsea player to be recalled from loan this January, after both Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana also had their loan deals with Nottingham Forest and Union Berlin, respectively terminated before the end of the season.
Fofana has since secured another loan transfer to Burnley, but it appears that will not be the case with Casadei, according to a new report by Italian outlet, La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Blues have suffered a lot of injury problems this season, with Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu among the players that are currently on the sidelines, and they have brought back the talented Italian midfielder to provide some cover in midfield.
Casadei made 22 appearances for Leicester while in the Championship, scoring two goals in the process. The former Inter Milan star moved to Stamford Bridge in a £16m deal two seasons ago.
