Benoit Badiashile is one of the many promising talents in the current Chelsea squad.

The 22-year-old has mostly been impressive in central defence for the Blues since joining from AS Monaco about a year ago, but he recently found out that playing for a club like Chelsea can come with a lot of pressure.

Badiashile handed Callum Wilson a goal during the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash between Newcastle and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last month after making an avoidable error.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men eventually won the game in a penalty shootout after getting a late equaliser through Mykhailo Mudryk, but Badiashile has now revealed that he felt uneasy after Wilson’s goal went in, and it took the halftime talk of the coach and teammate, Thiago Silva for him to feel better.

“I was a little bit disappointed [at half-time against Newcastle], but the coach spoke to me, and so did Thiago. It was difficult, but I knew with these players that we could do great things, so I believed, and my second-half performance was completely different,” Badiashile said via Chelsea’s official website.

Despite being 39, Silva continues to show why he’s very important to the Chelsea squad. Aside from being a fantastic centre-back, the Brazilian is also a great leader to his teammates, and that is something we hope can continue for the foreseeable future, even though his current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
