Karim Benzema would make a great addition to Chelsea, considering the club’s ongoing problems in front of goal, and the Blues will do well to go for the 36-year-old, according to ESPN pundit, Shaka Hislop.

Benzema has been named as a potential target for Chelsea, who are looking to sign a new forward this month.

Respected journalist, Simon Phillips recently reported that the Blues have even held internal discussions about the possibility of bringing the Frenchman back to Europe. He however, added that convincing Al-Ittihad to let the striker go could prove a difficult task, albeit possible.

While discussing the rumours surrounding Benzema on ESPN FC recently, former Premier League goalkeeper, Hislop stated that it would make a lot of sense if Chelsea actually went after the Real Madrid legend.

He said: “I think Chelsea should say absolutely yes [to signing Benzema]… Given where Chelsea are, given who Chelsea have shown themselves to be, I think Karm Benzema coming in giving a bit of experience and a bit of quality in the striker position is something they desperately need.

“Just in terms of an easy and natural fit, Benzema to Chelsea makes a whole lot of sense to me.”
