Football journalist, Ben Jacobs has shared more information regarding the rumours that Chelsea are interested in signing Karim Benzema on loan from Saudi Arabia this month.

Benzema is said to be at loggerheads with the management of Al-Ittihad, and they’re not happy with him for failing to turn up for their training camp.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly after the former Real Madrid striker, but Jacobs has now stated that no formal approach has been made by the Blues.

He shared in a post on ‘X’: “A Karim Benzema exit in January from Al-Ittihad is being downplayed by sources. Senior PIF [Saudi’s investment fund that owns the Pro League] and Ministry figures intent on keeping him as part of the Saudi Pro League project.

“A move to Man United being dismissed. No approach from Chelsea to date either. They are still deciding internally what they want to do with the striker.

“Situation with Bobby Firmino is a little different. Al-Ahli are happy for him to be loaned out for the right offer.”

Chelsea are in need of a striker this January, as they aim to finish the season further-up the Premier League table. They have been linked with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney, but they consider the two players very expensive, especially after the Nigerian extended his contract with Napoli last year.
