I don’t see this Brazilian striker moving to Chelsea; they hate each other – Darren Bent says

Darren Bent has admitted he’s shocked by the reports that suggest that Chelsea are interested in signing former Liverpool striker, Roberto Firmino this month.

The Blues are believed to be in the market for a potent goalscorer, but due to the limited availability of top players in the current transfer window, a short-term fix appears to be the only option for them right now.

Firmino and former Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema are the latest names to be linked with the Blues, but Bent doesn’t think the 32-year-old would even consider joining Chelsea due to his  Liverpool connections.

“Surprised me that,” Bent told talkSPORT when speaking about the Firmino to Chelsea rumours.

“The reason why it surprises me is the whole Liverpool connection. Now, I know Rafa [Benitez] did it. But Rafa’s got thick skin, so he doesn’t really care. But Firmino to go to Chelsea, and Chelsea Liverpool, that history there, they don’t like each other at all.

“Would he go to Chelsea? I can’t see Firmino going to Chelsea, I just can’t.

“If you look at his time at Liverpool, I know he sacrificed himself because of the other two, Mane and Salah. But his link-up play and hold-up play was arguably one of the best in the league. He wasn’t prolific, was he. He scored goals. But he wasn’t prolific. Going to Chelsea, I’m not sure that’s what they need. They need someone who’s going to put the ball in the net.”

Firmino is a Liverpool legend after making more than 300 appearances for them before leaving last summer, but then, it’s football, and anything can happen. The real worry for Chelsea fans should be the fact that the club is even being linked with someone that currently plays in the Saudi Pro League— and who clearly wasn’t doing so well before he left the Premier League.

We get that there is a need for a striker to come in and assist with the goals, but why do it at all if it’s something you’re most-likely going to end up regretting?
