Former Chelsea defender, Robert Huth is not impressed with the way the Blues have conducted their transfer business under Todd Boehly.
Chelsea have brought in numerous players since Boehly took over ownership of the club from Roman Abramovich, but Huth thinks their policy hasn’t paid off yet.
The German told Instant Casino: “I would definitely say they are worse off now than before they started spending all of this money. They’ve got good players, but they need more time on the training pitch.
“Having too much choice can be worse than having too few players in a squad. There are so many great players on the bench at Chelsea and I am sure it will undoubtedly cause problems for those big stars as well.
“The most successful squads I have been in have had a solid 15 or 16 players who could rotate in at any point. You need that understanding between the players and that cannot come from players playing infrequently, they need more time on the pitch.
“Pep Guardiola has the same 15 or 16 players who rotate in and out. He may change the system every now and then, but the players understand why he does it.”
Huth spent five years at Chelsea in the early years of his football career. He later joined Leicester City, and won the Premier League title with them in 2016.
