Mauricio Pochettino was very happy with Raheem Sterling for his contribution to Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Fulham on Saturday.
Cole Palmer scored the only goal of the game, but it was made possible after Sterling was fouled during a dangerous attacking move from Chelsea in the closing stages of the first half.
The 29-year-old has been criticised occasionally by some Chelsea fans for being a little bit selfish, but Pochettino has no problems with him, and was in fact, delighted with his performance at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
“We work on that,” Pochettino said after he was told that Sterling now holds the record for winning the most penalties in the league. “No! It’s good for the team. Today was good action and good performance to provide the team the penalty and then Palmer’s execution was excellent.
“So happy because he provides the team good things and helped to achieve the three points today, that we needed to be in a better position in the table.”
