Should Sanchez take over from Petrovic in goal when he returns from injury? See what Crouch has to say

Peter Crouch has admitted that Mauricio Pochettino has something of a difficult decision to make as Chelsea boss, when Robert Sanchez returns from his injury.

Sanchez began the season as Chelsea’s undisputed number one goalkeeper before picking up a knee injury last month.

24-year-old Serb, Djordje Petrovic has since stepped up to replace the Spaniard in goal since then, impressing both fans and critics with his timely stops.

Sanchez is however expected to make a return from his injury in the coming weeks, although it isn’t certain whether Pochettino will immediately throw the 26-year-old back into his starting XI, or choose to keep Petrovic, but Crouch has now suggested it might be in the best interest of the Argentine to retain the latter.

He told TNT Sports: “He’s got a decision to make a big, big one. We’ve not quite nailed it this club with Cudicini, Cech, Courtois top goalkeepers.

“Then we’ve rotated and changed, mixed and matched. This lad is 24 and the manager has a big decision to make.

“It’s similar to Arteta, but this is forced on Pochettino because of an injury. I don’t like the idea of rotating goalkeepers, I like to have a No.1.”
