Football pundit, Danny Murphy has claimed that Chelsea would be higher-up the Premier League table if Christopher Nkunku was fully fit from the start of the season.
The Blues are currently 10th on the log after 20 matches, with an important match coming up against Fulham this weekend.
Christopher Nkunku picked up a knee injury during pre-season after joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig, and was away for more than four months.
The 26-year-old later made his competitive debut for Mauricio Pochettino’s side last December, scoring a goal in the 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton.
Nkunku has however only been able to make four appearances for the Blues, before Pochettino revealed he’d picked up a minor hip problem.
The forward has now missed the last couple of matches for Chelsea, although he’s expected to return very soon. And Murphy has stated he believes the West Londoners would be better-placed on the league table if the Frenchman was fully fit from the start of the current campaign.
He told talkSPORT: “The only player they’ve signed you could argue has got a CV is Nkunku and he’s been injured. He’s the one who’s had a couple of seasons of a high level.”
He later added: “I believe if Nkunku, who was brilliant in pre-season, if he had started the season I think Chelsea would be sitting sixth or seventh.”
