Chelsea hero, Craig Burley has stated that Mauricio Pochettino is very lucky to still be the manager of Chelsea.
Things haven’t really changed at the club since Pochettino’s appointment as Chelsea manager last summer.
The Blues remain 10th on the Premier League table after 20 games, and are at risk of crashing out of the Carabao Cup, following their 1-0 first-leg defeat to Middlesbrough, and Burley now thinks that Pochettino’s only saving grace is his reputation.
“Mauricio Pochettino must be delighted he has an ‘o’ at the end of his name and he’s some sort of fancy manager who was at PSG and Tottenham before it all went wrong,” the Scottish ex-international said on ESPN FC.
“If his name was Graham Potter, we would be dragging him through the coals right now.”
Pochettino himself must know that the clock is certainly ticking fast on his Chelsea job right now, and things could take a very bad turn if results don’t start improving from this weekend.
The Argentine is earning a lot of money as salary, and he has a great team of young players at his disposal. He has been heavily backed in the transfer market. So, there’s no reason Chelsea should be in mid-table.
