Former Tottenham man, Jamie O’Hara has ripped into Chelsea’s current crop of players, who he says are lacking in mental toughness.
The pundit is of the view that the Blues have gone soft as a club due to the players they have at the moment.
O’Hara’s comments come barely two days after Chelsea suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
He told ESPN FC: “I’ll tell you what this Chelsea team is, soft! That’s what they are, SOFT! They have gone soft as a football club!”
“I used to play against Chelsea when it was Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Ashley Cole, John Terry. I rocked up thinking… oh here we go, we’re playing against a brick wall today. Now? Get into them, they’ll fold!
“What about Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling, Moises Caicedo, Conor Gallagher, Enzo Fernandez? I mean, any danger of anyone else stepping up to the plate if Cole Palmer has an off-night?”
Interestingly, Mauricio Pochettino has previously spoken about the poor competitiveness from his players on some occasions. But beyond the talking, what is the coaching crew doing to address the mind-set of the players? The season is already halfway gone, and Chelsea are in danger of going trophy-less again.
