Ian Maatsen has completed a loan move to Borussia Dortmund.

This is according to journalist, Fabrizio Romano, who shared the news on Thursday.

The loan move will last six months, after which Maatsen will return to Stamford Bridge, and see what will become of his future after he signed a two-year contract extension.

The 21-year-old has not played a lot this season, and was forced to make the move to keep his career alive.

Romano posted on ‘X’: “Official, confirmed. Ian Maatsen joins Borussia Dortmund on loan deal until June 2024.

“Maatsen extends his contract at Chelsea ahead of loan deal until June 2027 with release clause included. Maatsen, BVB’s new number 22.”
