Middlesbrough star, Hayden Hackney has expressed delight in winning the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final match with Chelsea.

Hackney scored the only goal, as Boro beat Chelsea 1-0 at the Riverside stadium.

The 21-year-old is however aware that the fixture is far from concluded, with the return leg coming at Stamford Bridge in two weeks, but he insists they will be ready to face the Blues at home.

Hackney said in a post-match interview: “We stuck to the plan and tried to keep it tight and catch them on the counter. It was a great ball, I just got on the end of it.

“I think we did really well tonight, but it’s a completely different game away from home. We will give it our best shot.”
