Pat Nevin has questioned whether Levi Colwill is suited to playing as left-back for Chelsea.
The Blues were defeated 1-0 by Middlesbrough, as the two sides squared off in the Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.
Chelsea had a number of opportunities to bury the game in the first half, but poor finishing cost them in the end, as the Blues went down to a Hayden Hackney goal after 37 minutes.
Boro’s goal came through Isaiah Jones, who ran off Colwill and dribbled the defender before firing a low cross into the Chelsea area for Hackney to finish.
Colwill was played out of his preferred central defence position, and after the defeat at the Riverside, Nevin has now stated that there are question marks over the ability of the 20-year-old to continue to play there.
“It did not have to be anything complicated,” Nevin told 5Live.
“Get it over the top of the Chelsea defenders and Isaiah Jones will run on to it. When he got to the byline he did not panic and that was the difference between him and the Chelsea players.
“Jones was doing it time and time again, he was a consistent danger.
“Do Chelsea play Levi Colwill at left-back again? There are a few questions for Chelsea.”
