Ian Maatsen has reportedly penned a new contract with Chelsea.

This is according to journalist, Fabrizio Romano, who shared the news on Tuesday afternoon.

The news comes ahead of the 21-year-old’s impending loan move to Borussia Dortmund this week.

“Ian Maatsen signs new deal at Chelsea valid until June 2027, two year extension… and it will include a release clause! The clause will be valid starting from summer 2024,” Romano posted on ‘X’.

“Maatsen will fly to Dortmund tonight to join Borussia on loan, medical tomorrow as [previously] revealed.”

Maatsen is expected back at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, and hopefully, he’ll come back a much-improved player.

It was expected that the Dutchman will leave the club permanently, but he has finally decided to pen a new contract with the Blues.
