‘I don’t see any improvement’: Chelsea told they are not progressing under Pochettino

French football journalist, Julien Laurens has rejected suggestions that Chelsea are making progress under Mauricio Pochettino.

The journalist made the claim when speaking on ESPN FC. He said: “Nobody can tell me this team is improving! I don’t see any improvement week after week, game after game.

“This is January 2024 now, Mauricio Pochettino has been here since the 1st July. I want to see something. The full backs don’t participate in anything really.

“Those attacking midfielders don’t do much either. I don’t see patterns of play, I don’t see anyone running into space. I don’t see much from this team really.”

While Chelsea haven’t had a dramatic upturn in their form this season compared to the last, it is just unfair to claim that the team isn’t progressing at all, because they are, albeit slowly.

Chelsea are currently 10th on the Premier League table after winning most of their games in the festive period, but aside from that, we have also seen Chelsea progress in the cup competitions they’re participating in, and that includes the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
