Ivan Toney has insisted that his focus is solely on Brentford, as he prepares to return to Premier League action this month.
Toney has missed nearly eight months of football after admitting to breaching the FA’s betting rules last year, but the ban is now set to end in mid-January.
The striker’s return to football comes amid transfer rumours linking him with a move to league rivals, Chelsea and Arsenal, but the 27-year-old has now stated that he isn’t looking to switch clubs at this time, and instead, wants to repay the faith his coach, Thomas Frank, and Brentford showed him these past few months.
“Thomas Frank has been nothing but the biggest help I could have asked for – the whole club has,” Toney said in a chat with Sky Sports and the Daily Mirror.
“From putting on extra sessions for me, from taking their time out to put a session on and go outside when it’s raining when they’re not supposed to be in.
“I have a lot to repay them and I can’t wait to try and do that.”
He continued: “The fans were also behind me. Even when I wasn’t at their games, they were singing my name.
“A friend of mine sent me a video of the fans singing my name, I got goosebumps to know that they’re still behind me, even though I’m not there.”
Chelsea are in need of a striker this month, but Toney is reportedly valued at £100m by Brentford, which is a lot of money for Chelsea at this time, considering how much they spent last summer.
The Blues may therefore put a move for a striker on hold until the end of the season.
