Ex-Arsenal striker, Emmanuel Adebayor has given his backing to Victor Osimhen to thrive in the Premier League if he makes the move.

Osimhen has been linked with a transfer to England in the past few months, with both Chelsea and Arsenal reportedly interested in the 25-year-old.

The Nigerian netted 26 goals in 32 matches, as Napoli cruised to the Scudetto last season, and in this campaign, has scored seven in 13 appearances.

Chelsea are in need of a striker this January, but it is unlikely they can get Osimhen before the summer transfer window, with the former Lille star currently valued at £112m by Napoli.

Adebayor was speaking with BBC Sport Africa recently, and when the Togolese was asked about Osimhen’s potential move to the Premier League, he said: “He has the right attitude, mentality and determination to excel there [in England].

“I’m praying for him to move to the Premier League and show what he’s capable of. The Premier League is the toughest and best [league] in the world.

“Osimhen has shown and done it already in Italy, I think it is the right time for him to move to England and replace his idol Drogba and do beautiful things.

“He has all it takes to make a name and write a great chapter in England like Drogba.”

Osimhen is currently with the Nigerian Super Eagles, as they prepare to participate in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
