Chelsea appear set to miss out on Inter Milan striker, Lautaro Martinez, as he prepares to put pen to a new contract with the Italian giants.
This is as revealed in an update by journalist, Fabrizio Romano over the weekend.
Martinez is a player that Mauricio Pochettino is fascinated by due to his proven ability in front of goal. This season alone, the 26-year-old has already scored 16 goals in just 17 league games.
Pochettino and the Argentine come from the same country, and they would have formed a great partnership at Stamford Bridge, but that is rather very unlikely now, following the striker’s latest comments.
Addressing his future recently, Martinez said (via Fabrizio Romano): “I’m close to signing [a] new deal here at Inter, the negotiations are advanced. It’s just [a] matter of time.”
Getting Martinez this month was always going to prove a difficult task for Chelsea, since most clubs hardly want to lose their best players midway through the season.
The boys need to work harder. It’s now or never. Let’s that’s be our slogan.
