Emmanuel Petit has reacted to reports that Chelsea are open to selling Conor Gallagher this year.

The Blues are said to be willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old, who has captained the side this season.

Gallagher has been one of Chelsea’s best players under Mauricio Pochettino, but even the Argentine couldn’t rule out a move for the midfielder.

Petit, however, told DAZN: “I understand Chelsea’s frustration with Gallagher possibly moving to Tottenham, and quite frankly I was surprised to read it in the papers.

“I thought, ‘is it a joke?’. What’s the point of that after giving him the chance after the loan to Crystal Palace?

“If you want to sell Gallagher because you spent over a billion pounds on new players in one year, then you have no idea what you are doing…”
