Sky Sports pundit, Darren Ambrose has expressed surprise over reports that Chelsea are willing to sell Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher has grown into a top footballer for Chelsea this season, starting all but one of Chelsea’s games across all competitions.
The midfielder has also captained the Blues on many occasions, stepping in for Reece James and Ben Chilwell, who have been mostly unavailable through injuries.
Gallagher has a deal that runs until 2025 with Chelsea, but interestingly, the 23-year-old has lately been linked with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge.
It has been reported that Chelsea are willing to accept offers that reach anywhere between £45m and £50m this month, and Tottenham have been the most associated with the player.
Mauricio Pochettino, on the other hand, is not in support of selling the player, who reports claim he wants to build his team around, and Ambrose has now admitted he’s surprised that Chelsea are even considering selling one of their best players this season.
He told Sky Sports News: “I’m surprised that Chelsea would let him (Gallagher) go given the current circumstance they find themselves in.
“He fits Spurs, 100 per cent… When he was at Crystal Palace he played a role further forward… Not only that he works extremely hard. He’s on the front foot and that’s what I’ve seen from Spurs this season.”
“I think he would definitely fit the bill for Tottenham.”
If Gallagher continues to play like has done for most of the season, we are sure he would fit into any team, but we don’t want him sold, as we believe he still has greater things to produce for Chelsea.
