Levi Colwill has enjoyed a decent season as a Chelsea player.

The 20-year-old broke into the first team at Stamford Bridge this season after a successful loan spell with Brighton in the 2022-23 campaign.

Naturally a centre back, Colwill has had to play as a left-back more often than not this season, and this is mostly owing to the fact that Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella haven’t been available because of injuries.

The defender has made 23 appearances across all competitions under Mauricio Pochettino, even captaining the team on one occasion this season.

He has now credited his success to the good relationship he enjoys with the coach, who he says he is hoping to repay the faith he has shown in him by helping Chelsea to more victories.

While speaking about their relationship, the England international told the official Chelsea website: “He is a good guy and I have a good relationship with him. It’s one based on trust; that’s a big part of it. I trust him and he trusts me. So we keep on building that relationship and hopefully, we can get the wins for him.”

Colwill has done well as a left-back for Chelsea, but many fans believe he’s playing out of position, and they want to see how he would fair in his preferred centre back role.

So far though, the Chelsea academy graduate has hardly stepped a foot wrong, and it’s safe to say that Pochettino hasn’t failed in experimenting with him as a full-back.
