Danny Murphy has included Cole Palmer in his Premier League Team of the Season so far, describing the 21-year-old as an ‘outstanding’ talent.
Palmer has done remarkably well since he completed a £42m transfer from Manchester City in last summer’s transfer deadline day.
The England international has scored eight goals, and picked up six assists in his first 19 matches across all competitions this season, putting him a level above some of his Chelsea teammates.
Palmer’s latest goals came during Chelsea’s 3-2 humbling of Luton Town last weekend— a win that saw him score twice and set up another for Noni Madueke.
While creating his team of the season so far, former Liverpool star, Murphy picked Palmer as his number 10, and admitted that he didn’t really expect the attacker to do so well in his debut campaign.
“I’ve gone Cole Palmer as the 10, I think he’s been absolutely outstanding, I didn’t see this level from him at [Manchester] City. He’s absolutely outstanding, his game intelligence is phenomenal,” Murphy told talkSPORT.
Not many people gave Palmer a chance when it was announced that Chelsea were going for him as their surprise signing of the summer, but he has proven his doubters wrong, and we can only hope that he carries on with the good form for the rest of his career at Stamford Bridge.
