Chelsea are not looking to discard Conor Gallagher this year, despite reports to the contrary.
This is according to reputable transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, who shared a recent update on the player’s future at Stamford Bridge, amid reports he has been marked for sale by Chelsea.
Tottenham were last week, rumoured to have started discussions with Chelsea over a move for Gallagher this January, but Romano, through his YouTube channel, has dispelled the report as inaccurate.
According to the journalist, Mauricio Pochettino holds Gallagher in high esteem, and recognises that the 23-year-old is very important to his plans for Chelsea.
Gallagher’s contract will expire in less than two years, and selling him now would be a good way to raise funds for the club, but the England international is in the form of his life, so letting him go would likely disrupt the progress the team has made under Pochettino.
Gallagher currently captains Chelsea in the absences of Reece James and Ben Chilwell, who are captain and vice-captain, respectively.
