Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on signing a lethal striker with Nicolas Jackson failing to prove that he is the striker that can fire Chelsea back to the top.
According to The Telegraph, Pochettino’s ‘top choice’ for a new striker is Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, who played a key role as Napoli won the title last season.
However, Chelsea might struggle to sign Osimhen in January as the striker only recently signed a new contract with Napoli.
The report adds that despite Chelsea’s interest in signing Osimhen, the striker unlikely to leave Napoli before the summer 2024 transfer window.
With Chelsea unlikely to sign Osimhen in January, the Blues have been linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
It remains to be seen whether or not the club would be prepared to part from that to make an offer for the Brentford star as he doesn’t fit into Chelsea’s transfer philosophy.
