Jamie Carragher has named Cole Palmer one of the players of the season in the Premier League so far, after the electric start to life the youngster has made at Chelsea.
Palmer joined the Blues from Manchester City over the summer, and instantly became a success, picking up eight goals and six assists in his first 19 matches.
The 21-year-old has been the standout performer in Mauricio Pochettino’s struggling side, which Carragher deems enough reason to add him in his Team of the Season so far.
Speaking about the attacker on Sky Sports, Liverpool hero, Carragher said: “You say you can’t pick a certain player because the team hasn’t done so well, but that for me almost elevates Cole Palmer.
“His performances this season, he’s been Chelsea’s best player by a mile, which is not too difficult. That is looking like, I wouldn’t say a mistake from Man City, because would he have got in ahead of [Phil] Foden or different players? But he’s been one of the best players of the season. He’s not just lucky to get in the team, he’s been one of the best players in the Premier League this season.”
Palmer put on a ‘Man of the Match’ display as Chelsea beat Luton Town 3-2 on Saturday, scoring twice and assisting once in the game.
