Mark Lawrenson has backed Chelsea to pick up a slim 2-1 win over Luton Town when both sides meet in their final Premier League game of the year 2023.
Chelsea have been inconsistent this season, and have won just two of their last five matches across all competitions.
The Blues bounced back from the disappointment of losing 2-1 against Wolves last weekend, to record a hard-fought 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
Chelsea also beat Luton, who have now won their last two league fixtures 3-0 earlier this season, and Lawrenson is backing them to edge their tie on Saturday, December 30.
The pundit wrote for Paddy Power: “Luton had a great result on Boxing Day and I thought it would be difficult for whoever they were playing because it was going to be a wave of emotion. Chelsea beat Crystal Palace but they weren’t very convincing. I’m just wondering if Luton might experience a bit of anticlimax. I’m going to go for a rare Chelsea away win. Luton 1-2 Chelsea.”
