Chelsea hero, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has made a case for why the club shouldn’t consider getting rid of Conor Gallagher this season.
In a season where Chelsea have been through so many ups and downs, Gallagher has been one of the very few positives at the club.
The 23-year-old has been a much-improved player under Mauricio Pochettino, and has even captained the team on many occasions this season, with Reece James and Ben Chilwell absent through injuries.
Gallagher is said to be on the list of players that could be sold by Chelsea in January, but Hasselbaink has now shared why he thinks the England international deserves to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Hasselbaink told Amazon Prime Sport: “They need know-how and that’s what he (Gallagher) gives you. He’s one of the seniors in the team. He’s the captain as well. He’s come through the ranks. I’m surprised to hear that they might move him on. I don’t hope that they do because he gives you the balance that at the moment you don’t have. Yes, 18 months on his contract doesn’t help his situation, but I think Chelsea needs Gallagher at this moment to stay.”
According to journalist, Ben Jacobs, Chelsea will listen to offers for Gallagher in January if they fall between £45m and £50m.
