Noni Madueke was Chelsea’s hero, as they picked up a late victory against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
The winger, who was on the bench at the start of the game, later came on to turn things around for the Blues.
After he was brought down with a poor challenge in the Palace box, Madueke stepped up to convert the resulting spot-kick, and hand all three points to Chelsea.
The 21-year-old has hardly played this season, even though injuries have played a part, but he insists he’s confident in his abilities.
Madueke said in a post-match interview: “It was a stonewall penalty. I knew it would be given. I was trying to stay on the ground as long as possible.
“I’m confident with penalties with my technique. I won it, so I took it.”
“You want to play all the time,” he adds. “You want to be able to make an impact like I did today when you come off the bench.
“It was a difficult game. Credit to Crystal Palace, they played some good stuff and were difficult to breakdown. But credit to us too, we deserved it.”
