Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he has a great admiration for Chelsea veteran, Thiago Silva.

Silva is still playing football at a top level, despite being 39.

The Brazilian centre back recently made history by becoming Chelsea’s oldest ever outfield player at 39 years and 64 days old (in the 4-1 loss to Newcastle). He also made history for both Chelsea and the Premier League on earlier in December, as he became the oldest defender to ever play in the division— overtaking former Middlesbrough man, Collin Cooper in the process.

Speaking on Silva’s longevity recently, Pochettino said: “I try to discover his secret, because I want to steal it!

“I think it’s amazing because he’s 39. Of course some days it can be difficult for him and you have to push him, but he’s doing fantastic.

“I don’t know the secret but you can see that he’s very professional. To be professional is the most important thing in football to stay longer in your career.”
